How to cut flexible hoses: the first step in hose assembly

Cutting flexible hoses to the correct length is the essential first step in the hose assembling process. This stage requires precision, proper tools, and specific skills to ensure the final product is correctly manufactured.

The quality of the cut is crucial to avoid issues in subsequent processing stages and to guarantee maximum efficiency of the  hose assemblies.

Flexible hose cutting stages

  1. Measure the hose length: it is important to note that the length requested by the customer includes the fittings. To achieve the correct hose length, it is necessary to subtract the fitting cut-off factor, which is the distance from the bottom of the ferrule to the start of the thread.
  2. Cutting: the hose should be cut perpendicularly using a rotary steel blade to ensure precision and maintain the integrity of the material.
  3. Inspection and cleaning: after cutting, it’s essential to check that the hose is perfectly square, clean the hole and remove any internal debris that could compromise the use of the hose assembly.
